Our entire rural county is served by the highly trained, skilled, and dedicated volunteer firefighters from McArthur, Hamden, Zaleski, Wilkesville, and Harrison Township Departments. These brave men and women have an average response time of five minutes from being sound asleep in the middle of the night when awakened by their dropped tones to pulling on their bunker gear and rolling to an emergency scene.
To raise funds for their respective departments, gear, and equipment the volunteer firefighters often host spaghetti dinners, fish fries, bean dinners, and pancake breakfasts throughout the year. During the Old School Survival Boot Camp 3-day survival homesteading event, the Fern Kruger Building at the fairgrounds will be used for meals prepared for attendees by the volunteer local heroes. All proceeds will benefit the firefighters and their departments. Menus will be included in the ticket and welcome packet.
