The On Guard Defense Gun Range  and Training Center  is owned by Ohio's Gun Gal Judi Phelps and her veteran husband, Scott. It will be the Old School Survival Boot Camp venue site for handgun, rifle, and Krav Maga . Visit the range website to see what courses will be offered during the boot camp and book directly with them - or plan a return visit to the area to enjoy more of the excellent self-defense training offered by On Guard.


Raccoon Creek Outfitters will be on-site during the event conducting a watercraft basics and safety class. You can also book kayak and canoe excursions along Raccoon Creek at this outdoor recreation venue. Raccoon Creek Outfitters also offers primitive camping.

  • Local pizza shops with delivery include:  Percelli's, Mama Renie's Restaurant and Bar , Giovanni's, and Mullins Route 50 Pizza. 
  • Food options less than three minutes away in McArthur include: McDonalds, Subway, Valero (deli, pizza and chicken kitchen menu items) Clarks' Marathon (chicken and side hot kitchen items) and Main Eatery.
  • Grocery items available at Campbell's Supermarket
  • Cross Creek in Allensville offers pizza, hot kitchen items, pizza, and a state liquor store.
  • Lake Hope Lodge - Everything is made from scratch utilizing as many locally sourced products as we can get our hands on. Enjoy the full flavor of our all-hickory smoked real pit BBQ, wood fried pizza, hand cut steaks and burgers made of only the freshest beef ground in-house daily!
  • Forget something you need? Both a Family Dollar and a Dollar General Store, as well as Shriver's Pharmacy are located about 1 mile south of  the event venue.
  • You can find ATM machines in town McArthur at the Vinton County Bank Drive-Thru, WesBanco, and Clark's Marathon Gas Station.

  • Raccoon Creek Outfitters offers both primitive tent sites and RV sites with hook-ups.
  • Ravenwood Castle offers a one-of-a-kind lodging experience. Meals are served daily in the Great Hall. Food and drinks are also available on-site at the Raven's Roost Pub. The castle is located close to the On Guard Defense Gun Range and Training Center as well as the Vinton County Airport.

  • Brewery 33 - Brewed Locally in the Hocking Hills Craft Beer, Food Trucks, & Live Music Locally owned, family friendly, located in the heart of the Hocking Hills.  Recharge after a long hike with homemade beer, unique food trucks and local live music. 
  • Uncle Buck's Riding Stable and Dance Barn  is also located near the campground. Go on a guided trail ride, kick up those boots on the dance  floor, and enjoy great food and drinks.
  • Moonville Rail Trail - The Moonville Rail Trail is a 16-mile-long tourist destination in Vinton and Athens Counties that takes visitors through the beautiful woodlands of southeast Ohio, including Zaleski State Forest. This two-phase project improved 4.1 miles of trail and helped open up 12.2 miles of rail-trail from Zaleski to New Marshfield, Ohio. Ride hose, a bicycle, or hike the beautiful trail and go through the old tunnel - which ghost hunters claim is haunted.
  • Covered Bridges of Vinton County - In Vinton County, only four of the more than 60 covered bridges that once dotted the landscape remain. Although only one is open to vehicle traffic, they all are open to pedestrians and are well worth a visit.
  • Hope Furnace - Though the roar of the iron furnaces no longer echoes through the hills of Vinton County, Hope Furnace is a reminder of days gone by at Lake Hope State Park.
  • Lake Hope State Park Nature Center - Numerous programs go on throughout the year at the Nature Center, which also is home to a myriad of native wildlife and historical artifacts.
  • Lake Alma State Park - Go for a swim, go fishing, enjoy the playground area, and walk the bridge to the island to walk or hike while enjoying amazing views.
  • Hocking Hills State Park is home to some amazing hikes. If visiting, be sure to check out Old Man's Cave, Ash Cave, which includes a handicap accessible walkway, the Rock House, Cedar Falls,  Cantwell Cliffs, and Conkles Hollow Nature Preserve.
